Adding A Twist To Football Juggling Can Help Improve Soccer Skills

When we practice football juggling, the increase of the number of taps gives a sense of accomplishment. Of course, juggling itself is a good exercise. But if we want to improve our soccer skills by doing juggling, just increase the taps is not enough.

I think adding a twist to juggling is very important. For example, I practice juggling within a circle which I made by placing a jump rope on the ground.

This is one of my YouTube short movies. As I shot this video in a rainy day on the soil ground, my soccer uniform and soccer boots got very muddy. But surely, my ball control skill was improved by this weird training.

How I Use A Jump Rope For Hip Joint Stretching And Soccer Ball Juggling

The flexibility and the motion range of the hip joint is important not only for soccer ball juggling but also for soccer skills in general. Now I keep my left knee on the inside edge of the circle which is made by a jump rope and try to straddle the soccer ball with my right foot as far away from the circle as possible.

But the jump rope placed on the ground is not just for stretching but also for improving my juggling skills.

I sometimes use this jump rope when I practice soccer ball juggling. Previously, I chased the soccer ball and my position became very unstable. So I makes it a rule not to get out of a circle which I made with the jump rope placed on the ground. Thanks to this training, I could strengthen my core muscles and keep my body balance stable while playing in a soccer games as a defensive midfielder.
